Irene F. Formes

Irene F. Formes of Newburgh, a lifetime resident of the area, entered into rest Wednesday July 27, 2005 in Cornwall Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was 80.

Daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Christensen Reil, she was born February 3, 1925 in Newburgh, N.Y.

Irene was a member of the American Legion in Newburgh; Disabled American Veteran's of New Windsor; and the Star of Bethlehem. She volunteered much of her time to various non-profit organizations, including the Cornwall Thrift Shop and Castle Point Veteran's Hospital.

She was loved much by her family and friends and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her two daughters, Martha Dobson and her husband, Harold, of Las Vegas, Nev., and Roberta Ibbetson and her husband, Mark, of Rome, Ga.; her brother, Arthur Reil of Newburgh; two sisters, Hannah Weldon and Peggy Marsh, both of Florida; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son, Robert Martin; four brothers: William, Kenneth, Robert and Nelson Reil; a sister, Pauline Rengstorf; and her granddaughter, Mary Ann Dobson.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Friday, July 29 at Brooks-DiDonato Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 30 in Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor.
