Montgomery, NY
Anthony "Tony" Mattiolo passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family. Son of the late Vincent and Carmela "Mary" (LoMeo) Mattiolo; he was born in Brooklyn, NY.
A jeweler by trade, he worked in Manhattan specializing in custom jewelry designs. Later he started his own family run business, Dorchrist Jewelry, in Long Island, NY.
Anthony was a hardworking, dedicating family man. He loved spending time teaching life skills, playing catch and cards, watching the Miami Dolphins, and taking meticulous care of his cars. He was an avid animal lover and always had a fury companion by his side.
Anthony is survived at home by his wife of 56 years, Elaine; son ,Christian and wife, Cheryl of Long Island, NY, daughter, Doryann and husband, James of Montgomery. Affectionately known as Pa, he is survived by his six grandchildren: James, Connor, Tyler, Kristen, Erin, and Steven. In addition; sister, Rose Mickel of Staten Island; brother-in-law, Vincent Caserta of Queens; sister-in-law, Loryane and brother-in-law, Carmine Margiotta of Connecticut; nieces: Maryann Molino, Dolores Blanti of Staten Island; Dana Wild and Darcy Olsen of Connecticut. He is also survived by his furry faithful companion, Serena.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. John Hughes and Hospice of Orange and Sullivan County.
A Mass and Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday March 27 at Holy Name of Mary Church, 89 Union St. Montgomery. Father Mathew Reiman will officiate. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Montgomery.
Memorial contributions in Anthony's memory may be made to Walden Humane Society PO Box 135, Walden NY or Hospice of Orange and Sullivan County Newburgh at www.hospiceoforange.com

May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.
I remember him as a Mr. Mattiolo who lived across the street who was quite the hero to a number of us kids who grew up on Earl Street. I remember how he was there to rush me to the emergency room after I had been attacked by a dog. My siblings have also shared with me numerous stories of him being there in times of need and how we now as adults value those experiences.

Anthony was the BEST neighbor my family could’ve asked for growing up on Long Island. He was a one man neighborhood watch! Some great memories are of him and his family.
I’m glad to have known him.
