Joyce M. Winter, of Red Bluff, died peacefully on January 3, 2021 at Redding, California.


Joyce was born in Ventura, California on July 8, 1930 to Doris and Clarence Coates. In 1947, the family moved to the Bend District of Red Bluff. She attended Red Bluff Union High School for her senior year, where she met her husband Jack V. Winter. -They were married October 31, 1948 in a double wedding ceremony with Jack's twin brother George and his fiancée Pauline, at the Presbyterian Church in Red Bluff. She was a devoted wife and mother to three sons.


Joyce worked in various Red Bluff banks until taking a position at the then new Diamond International Integrated Forest Products Plant built just south of town. She was the first women hired in the Purchasing Department. She worked in various office positions before being promoted to Executive Administrative Assistant to Diamond's General Manager. She retired in 1987, giving her time to enjoy various hobbies which included her love for fine art painting, boating, camping and charitable work on behalf of St. Peter Episcopal Church of which she was a long-time member.


She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack, brothers Edward and Clarence, and her eldest son Doug Winter.


She leaves sons Mark Winter of Red Bluff, Steve and his wife Cynthia Winter, of San Francisco, sister-and-law Marlene Coates of Redding, and many nieces and nephews.


In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St Peter's Episcopal Church, 510 Jefferson St, Red Bluff, California 96080.
