Patricia McCool Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 2, 2008.
Patricia Ann McCool It is with great sadness that the family announces the tragic death of Patricia Ann McCool on July 25, 2008 near Insinger, SK. Patti was born on January 1, 1959, one of seven children to Frank and Lenora (nee Keats) McCool at Calgary, Alberta. The family moved to Cochrane, AB in 1964 where Patti grew up and received her formal education. In 1979 she married her high school sweetheart, Rick Alexander and their son Josh was born in 1980. They unfortunately separated in 1981 and in 1985 she met Nick Morin, and asked him to attend a hockey game with her. They moved to Radisson, SK, where they successfully added to Nick's "Red Bull Inn " and lounge. Two children, Rhianna and Jordan were born at Radisson. In 2002 the family moved to Grandview, MB where Nick and Patti operated the Grandview Motor Inn and Nick continued to farm the family homestead in the Sugar Loaf District. Patti lived her life for her family, and gave many hours to being present at all the sporting events and other activities. She was very much a part of their lives. She and Josh continued to talk almost daily by phone. Patti enjoyed nature and being outdoors, whether quading, snowmobiling, or just enjoying quiet time over morning coffee. She also enjoyed having a good time with friends and family. She loved to sing, both in public and with her children, enjoyed baking, especially pastries and cookies. Patricia always dreamed of opening a small bake shop that she would call "Patti Cakes. " She was an active part of the family business, and spent many hours at the hotel, cooking, serving, cleaning, and doing whatever needed doing, but the greatest pleasure for her was having the whole family gather for Sunday dinner. Patricia was predeceased by her grandparents and her father. Surviving to cherish Patti's memory are her mother, Lenora McCool; her son, Josh Alexander; her life's partner, Nick Morin; and their children, Rhianna and Jordan; sister, Lindy McCool; brothers, Gordon, Steven, David, Danny, and Michael McCool and their families; step children, Sherry, Devin and their families. She is also survived by a large extended family and a host of friends and neighbours. Patricia is remembered as a beautiful person, inside and out, with a vivacious zest for life, and an amazing gift of caring, helping, and being present for her children. A Celebration of Patricia's Life was held 2:00 p.m., August 1, 2008 at Grandview United Church, Grandview, MB, with Reverend Steve Wilson presiding. The organist Sharon Zilkey led the Grandview United Church Choir and the congregation in singing the hymns "Will You Bless Our Homes and Families " and "This Is God's Wondrous World. " Following the service the family and community shared at a luncheon served by the UCW. The family is very grateful for the care and support of so many relatives, neighbours, and friends and express thanks to all who brought food, flowers, hugs, and caring to help them move through this very difficult time. Memorial Gifts to honour the life of Patricia Ann McCool may be given to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation Inc, 675 McDermot Ave, RM ON1160, Winnipeg, MB. R3E OV9. Letters of condolence to the family may be emailed to [email protected]. Nairn-Chyz Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements, Roblin, MB (204) 937-2111

Josh

So sorry to hear about your mom. She was one of my best friends growing up and it truly saddens me that we will not meet again. Have thought of her many times over the years and have fond memories of spending time out at the acreage near Cochrane. She was a special, fun, beautiful girl and I am sure she was just as beautiful as a woman.

Dear Josh:
So sorry to hear of your Mum's tragic accident. We recall meeting her when she was dating your Dad and remember her as a beautiful and engaging personality. You, of course, we know so much better, and are praying that you will know God's amazing grace and care for all the family at this time of loss. (Heather's Mum and Dad).
