John always had a ready smile for me and all those who said hello when playing pinochle at the Chislson Senior Center every Monday. Will miss his friendliness and quiet manner. DJ Helwig

Big John so going to miss seeing your smiling face! I always saw you at the rec. center 3 days a week. At times I was doing my own workout, and here comes John to see what I was doing. He was always looking for different exercises that he could do there or at home. If it was something that I thought he could do, I'd hand him the weight, band or ball and show him how to do it. When I first noticed him, he was sitting in the social area in the senior center, watching our every move, as I taught weight training for seniors. Soon he was trying to do some of the moves, sitting in his chair. Realizing that his needs really weren't being met at the senior center suggested to him to go to the rec. center side and start using the machines for working out. There were some machines John couldn't use due to his size, but those that he could use, he used regularly, plus he expanded to using the weight room. John worked really hard working out and felt so good about what he accomplished. John made many friends at the rec. center, and I'm sorry there won't be a formal 'good-by' for them. John will be missed!

John was one of our favorites. Always had a great smile and very pleasant to all. He will certainly be missed at our Senior Center.
