James Curtis Brown, age 83, of West Frankfort, Illinois passed away at 3:00 a.m. Sunday, February 12, 2012 at his home. James was born January 19, 1929 in West Frankfort to Joseph Wesley and Lina Mae (Melvin) Brown. He married Patricia Cook in West Frankfort on July 24, 1948 and she preceded him in death on December 18, 2006. James was a member of Boner Cemetery Church. He was a man who loved his family. He also had a passion for history, old cars, and especially Harley Davidson's. He was a gifted artist and truly loved being a coal miner. Anyone who new Jim knew that he had the "gift of gab." A special Ôthank you" to Margaret Jude, his best friend (Bob Sanders), Jim and the staff of Wit and Wisdom, and Addus workers Kelly, Autumn, and Maggi. James was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Brown; parents; two brothers; two sisters; 1 nephew. He is survived by his daughters: Vanda (Roger) Stanley; Jo Lynn (Joey) Litton; son, Jim (Angela) Brown; grandchildren: Michele Whitt, Chad Oyler, Angie Hall, Joseph Brown, Jake Linton, Mackenzie Oyler, and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort, Illinois with Rev. Kent Dunford officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at the funeral home prior to the service. Interment will be at the East Fork Cemetery in West Frankfort, Illinois Online condolences of sympathy may be made at www.unionfh.com.
