Leita Twyeffort Obituary

Leita June

TWYEFFORT

Leita June Twyeffort was called home to heaven on Sunday, March 30, 2008. Born in Lawton, OK, she graduated from high school in Albuquerque, NM before marrying Mark Twyeffort in 1969. They had Marleta in Albuquerque, and moved to Nevada in 1976. Mark and Leita dedicated nearly twenty years to providing loving care to foster children in their Sparks home. Both Brandon and Steven came to them as foster children before Mark and Leita adopted them as their own. Leita was always involved in the Nazarene church and played the organ joyously for years before her health wouldn't allow her to do so. Even after her cancer diagnosis, Leita loved and encouraged people with letters and calls.

Leita is survived by husband, Mark Twyeffort; sons, Brandon and Steven Twyeffort; daughter, Marleta Fong, married to Erik Fong and grandsons, John Wood and Drew Fong. A service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at the Sparks First Church of the Nazarene, 2200 El Rancho Dr., Sparks, NV, 89431.

She lived a gracious, generous life, and will be missed by all who knew her.

Mark, Marleta, Brandon, Steven, Stan,
It was a privilege to be with you this past week. Midnight conversations with Leita - her tuneful, crisp voice -- going to bat for you, for me. If you will run for me, I will bat for you too. Love, Ant Min

After being out of town for over a week I just read the news about Leita. To her family, I am so sorry for your loss. But I also rejoice with you that she has now been totally healed and is in the presence of her Heavenly Father.

Father God:
All of Leita's friends, like ourselves, are grateful that she not only lives on in eternity with you, but that she remains on earth through all of our great memories of her. Our primary concern now is that you give deep comfort to Mark, Stan, and Min plus Leita and Mark's children. They need the strength only you can provide. Bob and I pray for these things in the name of Jesus who is Leita's Savior. Amen

Mark - Leita has been my favorite cousin and I am going to miss her greatly. During all of her battles with cancer and other health problems, she was still encouraging others (as well as myself). Her trust in God to help her on a daily basis and her ability to praise him even during the tough times were an inspiration to me. I know that she is now rejoicing in heaven.

May God give you strength and encouragement in these days ahead. May He give you wisdom to guide your family and may all your childen join her one day in heaven.

Dear Mark and Family:
I first met Leita when I went to college. She was positive and a great encourager. I think she remained that way to the very end. Her focus was eternal and I look forward to seeing her in heaven. May the peace of God that passes all understanding sustain you in the coming days.

Mark,
Even though I know Leita is Home, I was saddened to learn of her passing. Her whole being sparkled, and there is no doubt that those who knew and loved her will feel her absence. I am so glad the two of you had each other and that your love overflowed to so many others. May God's arms hold you and yours close.

Dear Stan and Min,
My memory of your sister, Leita, is so special. She was a delight to know. I well remember the trip to International Institute at Estes Park, CO. A group of us from the NM District stopped at The Waffle House in Colorado Springs. Leita ordered 3 waffles by mistate instead of 3 pancakes. It was so funny, we never have forgotten it.

I was very saddened to learn of Leita's passing; but am so thankful for her devout Christian life. We will meet again.

Leita was one of my favorite "older" teenagers. I liked her because she was so funny; so loving; a contagious smile and laughter. The angels with laugh with her, I'm sure.

Family and Friends,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts of Leita with me. We had a wonderful time together and it seemed far too short. Thank you also for your prayers that have sustained us so far. The boys are doing OK and Marleta is such a big help and comfort.

Mark: We will all miss Leita and her caring spirit. Even when she did not feel well she was concerned about others in need. I remember the lady she sent me to visit in ElDoradoKansas. This was typical of her sweet spirit and her concern for others. We ill miss her here also. Gary

It's been said that our lasting legacy in life is how we make a difference in the lives of those we come in contact with. Relatives and friends for sure..but even hospital employees and neighbors have expressed how they've been touched by her. I guess it's true.."you don't know what you you've got 'till it's gone."Had a great long phone conversation last monday night.( she was NOT cut out for E/M...I finally gave up on that one )but boy...did she have the phone figured out...as I look back...what a blessing in disguise,huh?)..then...one week later..saying our "goodbyes" and "see you laters." Never thought I'd really miss getting those calls..

Dear Twyeffort Family,
I best remember Leita as a happy bubbly teen that was so talented on the piano and organ. She was a beautiful person with a heart of gold. I guess they must needed a new organist in heaven. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Mark & family,
We have been separated by many miles for many years but our childhood, youth and early married years come rushing back as I reflect on them. Her cheerful spirit and encouragement to me and others though every treatment have taught me so much and the Godly wisdom she shared was a true testimony of God's amazing grace in adversity. Thank you Mark for the devotion and love you gave especially this last year. Leita's memory will remain in my heart.
My love and prayers are with all of you.

It is with great sadness but eternal joy to know that Leita is with the Father above. Leita won a special place in the Father's heart because of her loving, compassionate, Christ-like spirit with everyone that she meet. We all will miss her loving spirit. But we know she has gone to a far greater place and she is going to be cheering us on. With love we wait that great resurrection day to be with her and Christ forever. Mark,
I am praying the Lord's comfort and blessing for you and "the kids". Leita left a tremendous legacy in her family, and anyone who spoke for even a moment with her realized the joy of her life, Christ and family. What a blessing. Much love and many prayers during these days. We will see you this weekend.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Leita will live on in our hearts because she lovingly gave so much of herself to encourage others in the Lord. There were times when I tried to encourage her, but she encouraged me instead and I will never forget that or her.
