Jack Martinelli Obituary

A handsome, loving man of integrity died early Wednesday morning, at the age of 76, after a long fight with heart failure and Parkinson's disease. His long time sweetheart, Carol Cuthill, was by his side at home when he left to join his mother and father, Jennie De Carlo and Dominic Martinelli.
Jack was born and raised in San Mateo, California. He was an excellent marksman in the National Guard and worked as a mailman for a short time before becoming a plumbing contractor in San Mateo as well as in Portland and in Pendleton, Oregon. He also was a Restaurant entrepreneur in both Portland and in Pendleton.
Survivors are his brother, Mike Martinelli of San Mateo, CA, son, Martin Martinelli of Waukegan, IL, daughter, Cindy Hinds of Salt Lake City, UT, and daughter, Kimberly Martinelli Davidson of Reno, NV, plus ten grandchildren, and five great-granddaughters.
Jack took a Babe Ruth team to the State Championships and won a few Nationals. He loved the game of baseball and enjoyed teaching kids of all ages how to play.
Jack loved sports and horse betting. He had worked for many years at the Reno Hilton Sports Book and at the Flamingo Sports Book. Jack retired in 2000 to enjoy his home and yard. Through the years he cherished his longtime friendship with five childhood buddies, Marty Etcheverry, Richard Hansen, William Jacobson, Richard Rautman, and Bucky Kahler.
A memorial gathering will take place on Sunday, July 18, 11:00 AM, at 2020 Carter Drive, Reno, NV. Casual attire. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice, or make a bet on a horse!
