Gideon Verl Hendrix, age 93, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2015 in Fallon, Nevada. He was born December 24, 1921 in Lund, Nevada to Gideon Ray Hendrix and Thora Gardner. Verl had been a longtime resident of Fallon, serving in many community and church leadership capacities, including serving missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Oakland, CA Temple; Chicago, IL Temple, and the Las Vegas, NV Temple. He served in many church positions, including Bishop, Stake President in the Fallon, Nevada Stake, and Stake Patriarch. Verl and Martha served in the Reno, NV Temple in their later years. Verl was sealed to Martha Mae Hatch on May 2, 1947 in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Martha in 2012, sister, Veloy McCray, brother Robert (Bob) Hendrix and is survived by sisters, Carol Stewart and Delva Schank. Verl and Martha leave a long legacy for their children, V. Ray Hendrix (Barbara), Wayne A. Hendrix (Sherry), Diane Hunter (Ephraim), Elaine Adams (Mont) of Fallon, NV, Bruce L. Hendrix (Jeanne) of Idaho Falls, ID, 25 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 450 N. Taylor Street, Fallon, Nevada with a viewing at 10:00 am and services at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in the Fallon Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home.
