Janece Stitser Obituary

Janece Stitser

Janece Marie Stitser passed away of heart disease at her home in Reno, Nevada, and went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 22, 2015. Janece was born on April 8, 1958 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Samuel and Lorraine Stepp. The family moved to Washington State before settling in Redding, California.

Janece relocated to Reno, Nevada after attending college. For many years she managed the Truckee River Bar and Grill. Janece took great pride in raising her daughters, Spring and Tara, as a single mom. She married Conrad Stitser in 1999 and added three more kids - Shayla, Kurt and Clint - to her family. Snow skiing, water skiing, motocross, gymnastics, and football were a big part of their family life. Horses became a huge part of Janece's life, as she competed in sorting and team penning, winning many local and regional competitions. She also competed in cow dog competitions with her dogs and horses. She was an amazing wife, mother, daughter, sister, cousin and a wonderful friend to everyone she met. Janece had a beautiful spirit, a heart of gold, a smile full of goodness, and a soul of pure kindness. She was a Christian who loved the Lord, and her family takes solace knowing she is shining down on us from heaven.

Janece is survived by her mother, Lorraine Stepp, and three siblings - Kathy (Don) Giffen, Alan Stepp and Annette (Mark) Durham. She is also survived by her children, Spring Wootten, Tara (Chris) LaCasse, Shayla (Galen) Gifford, Kurt Stitser and Clint (Christie) Stitser; grandchildren, Miracle Wooten, Jimmy Wooten, Avery Stitser, Gemma Gifford, Colton LaCasse, Brynn Stitser, Caden LaCasse, Gwennyth Gifford, and Maxwell Stitser; and her cousin, Tami (Mike) McNerney. She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Stepp, and older sister, Jodee Morrier.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 30, 2015, at 11:00 am at Walton's Funeral & Cremations - Sierra Chapel, 875 W. Second Street, Reno, Nevada, followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00 at Pinocchio's, 5995 S. Virginia Street, Reno, Nevada.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to Moms on the Run (www.momsontherun.info) a non-profit organization created by hard working, caring people of the Reno community to fight breast cancer.

Janece will be forever remembered in our hearts and never forgotten.

I am in shock. I worked for Janese and her first husband Jeff in Fall River Mills and remember her girls. I notice that one is named Tara...I thought her name was Autumn. I am so sorry to hear that she passed away at such a young age. She was a friend and special person.

So sorry for your family's great loss. It's another heartache until that wonderful day we meet again. Janece was such a cheery girl, I envied her spontaneity, and so competitive! She taught me how to play Connect the Dots while we tried to stay quiet in church. I always felt privileged to be able to come over and play at your home as kids. Mr. and Mrs. Stepp did so much for us! Wish I could be there tomorrow for hugs and celebration, but I will pray for comfort and peace for all, and look forward to the glorious reunion.

Janece and I met before her first run at her first dog trial, she was so nervous, and we laughed together. We would always get together before our runs at future dog trials, to share our nervousness, and laugh. She had the kindest heart, and I will miss her terribly.
Rest in Peace, sweet lady.

I did not know Janece very well other than meeting her at the Reno Team Penning but became a Facebook friend of hers and had some wonderful conversations about our faith via FB message. She was so kind, compassionate and had such love and devotion for her children. I will miss seeing her posts. She is in a much better place and is at peace.

To my wonderful college roommate and friend. We lost touch over the years and just recently reconnected. I was so very happy to hear how your life has been blessed by a loving husband, kids, grandkids and a boat load of animals which you loved! I have wonderful memories of growing up with you and our first year in college. I know Jesus was standing at the gates to greet you! You lived life abundantly and left such a wonderful legacy behind.
