Linda Olmsted Obituary

Linda S. Olmsted, 71 ROCKFORD - Linda Sue Olmsted, 71, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at SwedishAmerican Hospital, after a year long battle with lung cancer. Born March 15, 1944, in Birmingham, AL, the daughter of George and Marie (Ray) Nesbitt. She married Larry Tomblin and they had two children, Tamela and John "Mike" Tomblin. She later married Robert Page Olmsted, on July 31, 1986, he predeceased her on June 24th, 2004. Linda owned and operated Tempconnect, Inc., retiring in 2003. She was a member of First Free Evangelical Free Church. Linda enjoyed traveling, shopping, eating out at various restaurants, and trips to Lake Geneva. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, friends and her dog, Sophie. Survivors include children, Tamela (Paul) Murphy and John "Mike" (Kelly) Tomblin; stepchildren, Jon (Kristin) Olmsted and Jenifer (Tom) King; grandchildren, Joshua, Sarah, and Liam Murphy, Hudson and Nash Tomblin, Madelyn Olmsted, Tommy, Casey, Ellie Page and Tyler King; stepmother, Frances Nesbitt; and very special family friends for over forty years, Karen Ter Maat and Dinah Harris. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2015, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, with Pastor Chuck Rife officiating. Visitation from 2 p.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org. Arrangements made by Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL 61108. I am Page's aunt. I live in LaCrosse,WI. I had some good conversations with Linda at some of the Olmsted family gatherings. Though I didn't know her well, I know she was a good person and she and Page were good together. My sympathies to Jon, Jeni and all of Linda's family.
