Benoni S. Griffin

SUDBURY - Benoni Simeon Griffin, 79, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 3, 1939, in Rutland, the son of Benoni and Vivian (Dodge) Griffin Sr.
He graduated in 1957 from Brandon High School.
Mr. Griffin served in the Vermont Army National Guard for six years and was a Specialist 4th Class at discharge.
He was first employed with the Town of Sudbury and later worked for over 20 years at Howe Scale Co. in Rutland. He also worked at Brandon Training School as a boiler operator until the school closed, and was then employed for several years on the Vermont Police Academy custodial staff, retiring in 2004.
He was a history buff and enjoyed walking, mowing his lawn and taking care of his property.
Survivors include four children Annie Bourque, of Barnstead, New Hampshire, Hazel Pratt, of Sudbury, Roland Griffin, of Brandon, Timothy Griffin, of Rutland; a brother, Tom Griffin, of Sudbury; 11 grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Griffin was predeceased by his siblings Louise Bedrosian and Allyn Griffin.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Bove, pastor of Brandon Baptist Church, officiating.
The graveside service with military honors will follow in Willow Brook Cemetery in Sudbury.
