Michael Billert Obituary
He was born Feb. 11, 1973, in Bennington, the son of John and Pauline (Beaudoin) Billert. He received his early education in the Bennington schools and was a 1991 graduate of Mount Anthony Union High School. He attended Vermont Technical College in Randolph and graduated in 1993.
Mr. Billert married the former Annick Masson on Sept. 6, 2008, in Shaftsbury. For many years he worked at Vermont Composites, later Kaman Composites, in Bennington.
Mike enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, fishing, hunting and cooking.
Survivors include his wife Annick Billert and their children, Masson and Lincoln Billert, all of Shaftsbury; his parents, John and Pauline Billert and his brother, Brian Billert, all of Bennington; nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Annick Billert for Masson's and Lincoln's education fund through Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.

Mike and I were first cousins and shared the same birthday. I hadn't seen him in a long while, but I still have fond memories of when we were kids.
My sincere condolences go out to my aunt Pauline and uncle John, and also to my cousin Brian.
I also want to express my deepest sympathy to Mike's wife and children.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Truly one of the nicest guys I've known. Even 20 plus years after high school I can say that. Memories of homeroom with Mike and John Behan still make me smile. Wishing his family strength and a life filled with wonderful memories of Mike.

My heart truly breaks for his family at this time. I worked at Vermont Composites with Mike, he was a really nice guy, we worked on several occasions on certain jobs. After I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer he was then diagnosed, he was always positive, trying to get through that nasty battle, he was doing a lot better than I was, we talked a lot through the next several months. He was so courageous through what he endured and it just breaks my heart knowing that he has a young beautiful wife and 2 beautifully young children. My condolences to the families if you need anything please don't hesitate to call, I will always be here for whatever you need, Annick god bless you and know that Mike is now your guardian angel. I will never forget his strength and courage through it all, so may he be flying high with the angels in peace, watching over his family <3 <3

I am so sorry for the loss of Mike. I can truly say he was the most genuine person I have ever known. Surely one of the good guys. He will be dearly missed.

TO: Pauline,John and Mikes` family: My heart breaks for you all in the loss of Mike. I had the experience of meeting this great guy when he was a patient at SWVMC. He never complained when I was stopped in his room too say hello and always had a smile on his face. I am so glad that I had the honor of meeting him and getting to know him.
