SPRINGFIELD - Evelyn Hildreth, 97, died April 14, 2009, at Springfield Hospital.
She was born Jan. 17, 1912, in Westmoreland, N.H., the daughter of Elmer and Alla (Atherton) Ware.
She graduated from Keene (N.H.) High School.
On Dec. 12, 1933, she married Sidney Adams Hildreth in Keene. He predeceased her in 2000.
Mrs. Hildreth was a mother and homemaker.
She enjoyed craft fairs, shopping, watching figure skating and celebrated her 80th birthday by taking a hot-air balloon ride.
Survivors include three daughters, Joanne Bechok of Claremont, N.H., Marlene Rolfe of Springfield and Doreen Smith of Carthage, N.C.; three sons, Bruce Hildreth of Billerica, Mass., Brian Hildreth of Springfield and Robert Hildreth of South Burlington; 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Mrs. Hildreth was predeceased by a sister, Mildred Romano, a grandson and a great-granddaughter.
The graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 17, in Oakland Cemetery in Springfield. The Rev. Trevor Handbridge, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Springfield, will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.
