Randall Alger Obituary

Randall Scott Alger Sr., 58, of Rutland, died May 24, 2010, in Rutland.

He was born March 15, 1952, in Middlebury, the son of Donald Edward and Betty Lou (Thayer) Alger.

He attended schools in Brandon and Rutland.

Mr. Alger was employed for over 20 years by John Carrara at Concrete Forming Systems.

He enjoyed NASCAR, watching wrestling and fishing.

Survivors include two sons, Randall Alger Jr. of Fair Haven and Ronald Alger of Brandon; three stepdaughters, Sherry Farr, Crystal Henry, both of Rutland, and Vicky Ward of St. Johnsbury; three sisters, Sharon Baldwin of West Haven, Brenda Bogucki of Poultney and April Keese of Rutland; a brother, Rickford Alger of Rutland; 16 grandchildren, an aunt, an uncle, several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Bissette Alger, in 2002; his mother in 1996; his father in 1960; and a niece.

Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, May 27, at the Aldous Funeral Home, 44 North Main St., Rutland.

The graveside service will be at a later date in Pine Hill Cemetery in Brandon.

Memorial contributions may be made to Randall Alger Memorial Fund, in care of April Bartlett Keese, 162 State St. Apt #1, Rutland, VT 05701.

Randy "Gump" was one of the best men I have ever known, he was one of my childhood heros. I loved him. I was sad to have missed his wake, but didnt find out about it till it had passed, something I deeply regret. I will never forget him. Rest in peace dear friend. Ann Lancour Page

Brenda: it was with sadness I read of Randy's passing, I remember him from our HS days. My one brother passed two years ago so I'm familiar with the loss you are going through at this time. Keep your memories of Randy close by, you will find the comfort you seek with them.
