Thomas Arwin Alger
April 29, 1948 – January 22, 2026

PRICE -Thomas Arwin Alger, age 77, passed away on January 22, 2026 in Price, Utah. He was born on April 29, 1948, in Price, Utah, to James A. and Leona Foster Alger.

Tom grew up in Carbon County and graduated from Carbon High School. He continued his education at the College of Eastern Utah before proudly serving his country in the United States Navy, joining in 1968. During his service, Tom received extensive training in electronics, including electronic teletype, cryptography, and submarine school-skills that shaped his lifelong career.

On March 20, 1970, Tom married the love of his life, Sherry Oliver. Together, they built a life filled with hard work, adventure, and deep family devotion.

Following his military service, Tom worked as an electrician in mines across Utah, California, Washington State, and Missouri. He welcomed every opportunity to relocate, viewing each new job and move across the country as an adventure rather than a challenge. His strong work ethic and expertise earned him many promotions throughout his career.

After retiring, Tom and Sherry moved to Missouri, where he fulfilled a longtime dream of purchasing land. There, he raised cattle, farmed, and cherished time spent with his family. In his later years, Tom returned home to Utah, reconnecting with old friends and enjoying visits with family. He was a familiar face at the senior center, often stopping in for lunch, listening to music, and sharing a dance or two with Sherry. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Tom is survived by his loving wife, Sherry Alger; his son, Troy (Kelsey) Alger of Missouri; and siblings, Jennie McGouirk of Georgia; John (Shirley) Alger of Mesquite, NV; and Pete (Ilene) Alger of Huntington.

He was preceded in death by his infant son, Lane A. Alger; parents; and his siblings, Frank Jensen, Harold (Ethel) Thayn, and Jim (Betty) Alger.

Graveside service, Tuesday, January 27, 2026, 1:00 p.m., Wellington City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price and Huntington where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of Tom online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
