Flip Nicol Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mitchell Funeral Home, Inc. - Price on Feb. 16, 2026.
In Loving Memory of Felipa "Flip" Marie Naranjo Nicol

Flip passed away on February 11, 2026, surrounded by love, leaving behind a legacy rooted in family, friendship, and compassion. Known for her strength, warmth, and generous heart, Flip brought comfort and joy to all who knew her.

After several months of feeling unwell, she was diagnosed with cancer in August of 2025. Though her illness progressed quickly, her spirit remained strong and grounded in love. During her final days, Flip asked only to have her family close, and surrounded by them, she found peace and comfort, reminding all who were with her that love mattered most.

Flip was born on October 20, 1946, in Taft, Texas, to Francisco "Poncho" Naranjo and Isabel Sauceda Naranjo. Her family later moved to Orem, Utah, where she was raised and graduated from Orem High School. In 1964, she married Lynn V. Montag, and together they welcomed two children, Tony Lynn and Anna Marie. They later divorced.

In 1973, Flip met Robert R. Nicol in a local bowling alley, beginning a relationship built on companionship and shared passions. They were married on August 31, 1974, and in 1975 made their home in Huntington, Utah. In 1987 they moved to Price, Utah.

Bowling was one of Flip's greatest joys. A devoted bowler, she competed in many tournaments, travelled nationally, and earned numerous honors, including induction into the Castle Country and Utah Bowling Hall of Fame, and a member of the United States Bowling Congress State Board. She was also recognized with 33 years of consecutive participation in the USBC.

Above all else, Flip's greatest joy and calling was being a grandmother and a great-grandmother. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the center of her world, and her love for them was boundless. She gave freely of her time, her energy, and her heart, always ready to care for them, comfort them, and make them feel safe and deeply loved. She delighted in their laughter, worried over them with tenderness, and celebrated every moment spent together. To her grandchildren, she was a constant presence, a gentle guide, and a place of unconditional love. The bond she shared with them was unbreakable, formed through patience, devotion, and a love that asked for nothing in return. Her legacy lives on in their hearts, carried forward through the memories she created and the love she so freely gave.

Flip also loved camping and the outdoors, especially when shared with family. She was a loyal friend, deeply caring, and endlessly kind, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Robert; children, Tony Lynn Montag, Anna Marie Austin, Kingstyn Cruz Gonzales, Tricia Daily, Sandy Sacks; grandchildren, Shay Montag, Skylar Montag, Allison Montag, Kimberly (Thompson) Gonzales, Thomas (TC) Thompson, Arron Daily, Alyssa Sanchez; great-grandchildren, Zaiden Montag, Bryce Montag, BentLeigh Johnson, Braquel Montag, Ashton Montag, Dalestyn (Thompson) Duncan, and one more on the way.

Memorial service, Friday, February 27, 2026, 12:00 noon, Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street, Price, Utah 84501), where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price and Huntington where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of Flip online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
