LYNN LACEY Obituary

Born 2/10/1945 in Pomona, CA. Passed away in Sacramento 1/20/2014 at age 68. Loving & caring husband of Cindi Lacey; "Step" Father (AKA "Dad") to Adam Matthews and Wendy Matthews. Devoted Papa to 5 grandkids: Kylie (15), Karma (11), Cali (5), Bella (11) & Max (10). He was little brother to Jon and Bruce Lacey and their wives Melba and Dorothy. He cared deeply for all nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Lynn worked for Safeway to put himself through San Diego State Univ., and obtained his Ph.D. in psychology at International College. He spent 10 years at China Lake Naval Weapons Center, first in human factors as a Navy psychologist and then as an organizational development specialist training civilian personnel, navy pilots, and even Admirals in the art of communication. From there, he spent the next 10 years managing his own consulting firm, "Common Visions," conducting communication seminars for multiple military facilities and fortune 500 companies. He found his passion as a Job Development Specialist with the Refugee Job Placement Program for Sacramento City Schools where he worked for 12 years helping me and women from Vietnam, Laos, Bosnia, Sudan, Burundi and the Ukraine obtain jobs and become self-sufficient in the U.S. After retiring 7 years ago, he became very active in his grandkids' lives from coaching soccer to going to library reading days. He provided special company and caring for his mother-in-law, Jane Breedon, who resides at the home. Lynn enjoyed simple pleasures: Dodgers, Lakers and Rams; In-N-Out burgers; Mexican food at El Puerto; breakfast at Waffle Shop; gatherings and vacations with family; playing with Mocha, the family dog; mornings at McDonald's talking to veterans; walking the neighborhood and chatting with neighbors -- Lynn never met a stranger he didn't know. You will be missed Lynn, Dad, Papa, but as Lynn always said: "THE BEST IS YET TO BE!" Not sure what to say?

How do you say goodbye to a presence that was so powerful that it will be felt for years to come? How do you say, "I'm sorry for your loss," to his family, when that phrase pales under the power of his memory? How do you say thank you to all of his family, for the time he shared with us all? Thank you and bless you Lynn for being who you were. The best is yet to be.

His a good man that loves his family and really enjoy his grandchildren... Bella and Max will miss him but he gave the kids some great memories that a grandpa could ever give his grandchildren. Rest in Peace Mr. Lynn A. Lacey you left a foot print in many peoples heart that will always be there to treasure. Some of those days you come by and having a little chat with me was sure was some interesting subjects but that goes to show how intellectual person you were and know still is might not be here with US but I am sure that you see us with a smile on your face..

I didn't really get to know Lynn until our high school class reunion was looming and we connected on Facebook. I loved his posts and found we were kindred spirits in many ways. I've already missed him for months on Facebook but am especially sad knowing we won't share those funny messages any more. He was one of the good guys. RIP, Lynn. Blessings to his family.

Lynn, it was so nice to reconnect in recent years and seeing you at our 50th reunion. We have many fond memories thru our friendship in high school and beyond. You will always be remembered, especially in February as your birthday preceded mine by 10 days:-) RIP, my friend!
