Elaine McJunkins Obituary

(1930-2017) Elaine A. McJunkins, of Citrus Heights, California, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2017 at the age of 87. Elaine was born in Parma, Idaho on January 16, 1930, to parents, Harold and Mildred Warntjes. She had fond childhood memories of life on the family farm with her two brothers, Dick and Gene. Elaine married her sweetheart, Bill McJunkins on July 9, 1949 in Boise, Idaho. They moved to Los Angeles for a brief time, while Bill attended school. In 1956, they moved to Northern California, where they bought a home and became long-time residents of Citrus Heights. Elaine was employed by the State of California for over 35 years. She worked as an executive secretary to the adjutant generals of the California Army National Guard. Elaine enjoyed her profession and was well respected in her position. In retirement, she spent much of her time and energy caring for others. She was a loving caretaker to her mother, until her mother's passing. She also served as a volunteer at Sutter Hospital of Roseville for many years. To all who knew Elaine, she was warm, friendly and kind. She had a beautiful smile and a wonderful sense of humor. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Mildred Warntjes, and two brothers, Richard Warntjes and Kenneth Robins. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Bill; sister-in-law, Betty Wennstrom; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff at Sunrise of Fair Oaks Assisted Living, for their compassionate and excellent care of Elaine over the past two years. At her request, there will be no services. She will be interred at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, California. Condolence cards can be received by Bill at Sunrise of Fair Oaks Assisted Living. PRICE FUNERAL CHAPEL (725-2109), directors.

What an awesome lady and professional secretary. She was a mentor to so many of us and she absolutely epitomized a work ethic of commitment and selfless service. Thank you Elaine, I often think about our many conversations. Rest In Peace. Sylvia Crockett

I have thought of Elaine and Bill often through the years. I have fond memories of working with Elaine in the Adjutant General's office. We had a lot of fun together. She convinced me to get a dog for my children and it was one of the best things I ever did for myself. I wish we would of had that cup of coffee. God Bless you. Nancy Hamilton
