David Fong Obituary

David Fong passed away peacefully on June 6, 2018 in his Sacramento home surrounded by his loving family. He battled lung cancer for 2 years though he never smoked. He was born March 16, 1950 in Sacramento, CA, the oldest of 4 children of Kim Ott Fong and Linda Wong, who immigrated from Lung Gong village in Hoisan, China to flee from communism.He graduated with a BS in computer science from CSUS and worked for the state as a computer analyst for 49 years. He was a loving father and friend to his 3 sons and supported their goals and career aspirations unconditionally. He was an Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scouts Troop 50 for 19 years and was an active member of the Sacramento Soo-Yuen Benevolent Association and their president from 2015-16. He loved movie screenings, photography, politics, sports, and most of all spending time with his family. David is survived by his wife Jane Wong of 36 years; sons Jonathan, Alexander (Ruby Chin), and Benjamin; sister Kathryn Hawkinson; brother Victor (Beckie Kwong) and niece Erica Hironaka (Keegan); and sister Lotus (Francesca Scalpi). A wake will be held on June 14 between 4pm and 8pm and funeral service will be on June 15 at 10:30am at George L Klumpp Chapel of Flowers at 2691 Riverside Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95818.

My heartfelt condolence to the family, friends and acquaintances who knew David. I will always remember his kindness to me during the movie lines and sending me those so important e-mails of events in our neighborhood.
