James Cummings Obituary

Jim lost his battle with lung cancer at his home in Citrus Heights, CA, surrounded by his family on September 24, 2018. Jim was born in Santa Ana, CA, on April 12, 1948, to the late James Edward and Beulah Mary (Harris) Cummings, and loved growing up on "his" Irvine Ranch in Southern California with his brother, Bob, sister, Barbara Ann, and many extended family members. Jim served our country in Vietnam in the U.S. Air Force Red Horse Division and later reenlisted in the U.S. Army. He was employed by Lockheed Missiles and Space Company (Sunnyvale, CA), McClellan AFB, and Packard Bell (Sacramento, CA). Jim is survived by his wife, Diane, of 46 years, two daughters, four grandchildren, his brother, and his sister who are grieving him deeply but comforted by the knowledge that he is at peace in the home of our loving Father. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to lung cancer research. Visitation and the rosary will be this Wednesday, October 3, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 7817 Old Auburn Road, Citrus Heights, CA, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 1:00 p.m. Committal will be on Monday, October 8, at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, Dixon, CA.
