Ronald Shackelford Obituary

SHACKELFORD, Ronald Lee
Ronald Lee Shackelford, age 59, died tragically in a car accident on December 3, 2007 in Cabo San Lucas. Born August 1, 1948, Ronald grew up in Concord, CA. He later moved to the Sacramento area. He bravely served in the Vietnam War, and upon returning home, his life was soon filled with the joy of raising his three children, Michelle, Ronnie and Christa. He worked in drywall construction until retirement. He enjoyed retired life with his wife, Linda, by camping and fishing in Northern California during the summer, and heading to Cabo San Lucas for the winter months. Cabo was the perfect place to fulfill his passion for fishing and bringing joy to those that came to visit. No matter where he was in this world, he always seemed to touch the hearts of many new friends that soon became like family. We will miss his kind heart, loving and crazy ways, ability to make everyone laugh, and being able to simply give him a hug or call to say "Hola Amigo". He will forever be in our hearts and prayers. Ronald is survived by his wife, Linda Shackelford (Marysville), his daughter, Michelle Shackelford (Sacramento), his son Ronnie Shackelford and wife, Gwen (Sacramento); his daughter Christa Camerer and husband, Doug (Grass Valley); seven grandchildren, Ashley, Brittany, Sabrina, Heather, and Sierra Camerer (Grass Valley), Adam and Audrey Shackelford (Sacramento); and his sisters, Jenny Earhardt (Sacramento), Karen and Sharon Shackelford (both of San Luis Obispo) and Pat, wife of Guy Shackelford (San Luis Obispo). He is further survived by nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Joyce Terrill and Guy Shackelford. And he will be dearly missed by his very close friend, Charlie Pace (Sacramento). Funeral services for Ronald Lee Shackelford will be held at 11a.m, Thursday, December 13, at St. John the Evangelist Parish, 5751 Locust Avenue, Carmichael. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family at the funeral and at the VFW Hall North Highlands, 3300 U Street, Antelope, immediately following.

Dad,
Well it's just been over a month since you left. I know you never wanted me to grieve your loss, like I have mom. You have given me your strength to get through this, but it is still so hard. I feel like a piece of me has died with you and I am trying to get it back. I think of all of our good times, but especially our drive to Cabo. I never laughed so hard and so much as I did on that trip with you. I am so fortunate to have had you as my dad. Thank you for making me who I am today and you will always be my hero.

Linda,

I was so sorry to hear about Ron's passing. He always had a smile on his face and a big fishing story to tell me at the dental office.
I know he is still fishing and telling stories on his new adventure he is on. Be strong because he would want you to.
