Salt Lake City, UT-Our dear mother passed away January 8, 2019 peacefully after a full and fulfilling life. She was born on July 5, 1925 in Ephraim, Utah to Lester and Ada Dalton Poulson. She graduated from Snow College where she was the student government Vice President. She moved to Salt Lake City and was a nurse's aide at LDS hospital and later worked for the SLTribune in the obituary department.
She married Thomas R. Muir on May 8, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple. Fern was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many different callings including ward and stake Relief Society President, Primary President, and YW advisor. She was a service missionary on Temple Square. She served with her husband, Dick, as missionaries in the Massachusetts Boston Mission. Fern was involved in the PTA for 21 years and served as PTA secretary of both Dilworth Elementary and Highland High. She loved watching sports of all kinds and attended many games of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed doing handwork from needlepoint to crocheting and playing games. She was an exemplary mother, grandmother, and friend. She has set an example of selfless service for her family to follow. Survived by her children: Tom (Sara), Ann (Brian) Johnson, John (Lesley), Carol (Jeff) Theurer, Scott (Pam), Rob (Mary), 26 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and her brother Ernest Poulson. Preceded in death by her husband, Thomas R. Muir, Amy Kipp Muir (daughter-in-law), and her sisters Allene Albrecht and Ruth Jackson. Funeral services to be held Mon., January 14, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mountain View Ward (1400 S. 1900 E.). Friends and Family may visit Sun, January 13, 2019, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Mountain View Ward and Monday at the ward from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.
