I often think of tips for calligraphy that I learned from Ralph in my graphic design classes at SLCC (then Utah Tech) and so the lessons continue whenever I do lettering now, 40 years later! Such a nice guy!

Ralph was my graphic arts teacher back in the early 1980s. He was very talented and we shared a love of old cars and trucks (Ralph had an old Studebaker truck at the time). We ended up becoming friends and I really wish I could have seen him again before he passed. He was a kind and wonderful man. I remember one of the other teachers (Mr. Hulet) saying that Ralph had more talent in his little finger than the rest of the teachers had in their whole bodies. We all admired his skill.

I just happened upon the name Ralph Huddlestone today and remembered knowing him at BYU in the early 1960s so I looked him up and found this. I remember his having taught me about lettering and just have a pleasant, cheerful impression of him. He made an alphabet page for me which I have kept all these nearly 60 years. I have scanned it and am adding as a photo. I wish his family every blessing. May God be with you.

I had the opportunity to meet Ralph through family events. He was enjoyable to visit with and showed the kind demeanor of a gentleman. I am glad Julianne, my brother Joel and their children got to share so many times together with him over the years. They were a blessing to each other, and I know he enriched their lives and hearts.
I send my condolences to them, Mary, and all his family and friends.

Around the time the '70s were becoming the '80s, I was a student of Ralph's. He made every class enjoyable, and imparted skills I still use today. He was a favorite of all the students, with his warm, laid-back style. He loved to teach, and it showed. Had I known he had settled in Mt. Pleasant, I would have loved to surprise him with a visit on my many outings to that area. Thanks for everything, Ralph.

I was a student of Ralph's at Utah Tech around the time the '70s became the '80s. Ralph was absolutely beloved by all his students. He walked the line of being both teacher and friend with complete ease. It's too bad that in my many trips to Mt. Pleasant in the last 20 years, I had no idea that this good man was so nearby. I wish the joy of seeing your photo in the newspaper, and the good memories it brought forth, Ralph, was not dampened by the sadness of your departure.
