Larry Calder Obituary

Larry Stuart Calder
July 14,1948 - Nov. 11, 2015
"Drive fast and take chances"-Larry S. Calder passed away on November 11th 2015 in Salt Lake City.
Born in Chicago, Illinois in 1948 to Norma Tucker and Arthur Calder, Larry is survived by his brother Tom Calder; sister Susan Isenburg; children Tonia Erin and Jeffrey Calder; mother of his children Christine Calder, and many friends and loved ones. Larry had a great sense of humor, always making friends and family laugh. His mind and heart were always open and that served him well as he passed his wisdom and love for learning to those around him. Larry entered into the army on 07/11/1968. He served his country with distinction, receiving an honorable discharge on 12/22/1971. Larry worked in the mortgage and finance industry for over 30 years in various positions and companies, and always exhibited the upmost professionalism and warmth. Larry enjoyed golfing, camping, hunting, and fishing with his friends and family. He always had a strong passion for cars and motorcycles or anything that was "loud and fast." He raced cars and motorcycles and the thrill and challenge of going fast and having fun always put a smile on his face. A compassionate, generous, and intelligent man, Larry will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. A Celebration of his life will be held on Friday, November 20th from 6-8pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 S 900 E, Salt Lake City. Complimentary valet parking will be available on the north side of the building. Online condolences may be offered and a tribute slide show may be viewed at www.starksfuneral.com. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the Utah food bank.

Larry and I were roommates in the early/mid 70s in Grand Rapids, MI. We both worked at Kent Oaks hospital together. We also attended Grand Valley University together.
He was a great guy and we had many exciting adventures together. We became very close friends during that time. Larry was driving his Porsche 912 at that time and he also had a Suzuki dirt bike. He was one of the most naturally talented drivers I have ever seen.
I´m so sorry to hear of his passing and will always remember how much fun we had. RIP my friend.
