Corky Argyle, a wonderful and loving husband, our father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to all, passed away suddenly and peacefully at Sunrise Assisted Living in Holladay on January 1, 2016. Our "diamond in the rough" is free from the many physical challenges he endured with great courage. He is now reunited with our loving, dear, sweet mom and infant son, Benjamin, and many other family members who preceded him in death.
Corky was born on June 13, 1923 in Payson, Utah the only son of Claude V. Argyle and Mary Ellen Fillmore. Dad was a member of the greatest generation. He joined the Navy at 18 years of age and served for 4 ½ years in the South Pacific. Upon his return, he married Eva Harper on January 21, 1946. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on March 8, 1961. After Eva's death, he married Myrl Ebinger August 16, 1997. She passed away December 3, 2013.
He was a member of the Grant 12th Ward where he served in many callings and donated many hours in the construction of the ward building. Dad worked for the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad for 34 years. One of his passions was gardening, generously sharing his fresh vegetables with everyone. His great love for fishing took him to Alaska, Cabo San Lucas, and many outings on Strawberry Reservoir with family and friends.
Survived by his son, Charles (Chuck) Argyle (Rise), Sandy; daughters, Peggy Montague, Midvale, Becky Morris (Ron) Midvale, and Wendy Argyle, Millcreek; 7 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Also survived by brothers, Clifford, Viron, and Bruce Argyle. Preceded in death by an infant son, Benjamin; granddaughter, Ashlee Morris; and four sisters.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at 12:00 p.m. at the Millstream Ward, 1100 East 3400 South. Friends may call Tuesday, January 5, 2016, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street, and Wednesday at the church from 11:00-11:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be at Mountain View Memorial Estates Cemetery.
Your gentle touch and warm embrace will forever be remembered. Go forth and reunite with the friends and family you've missed. The spot we hold in our hearts for you will never be forgotten.

Dear Becky, Wendy, Peggy, Chuck and all your Family. I'm so sorry for your loss. I truly loved your Father. He was a joy to be around. Even though I might of been a pain in his side for many of my teenage years. He is a great example of a servant of our Heavenly Father. I'm sure he will be missed but to know he is with your Mom is hopefully very comforting. He always seemed to have a smile and enjoyed his Family. My parents had a lot of respect for him. I know they considered him a great friend in the ward. They too are smiling in Heaven as they greet him. May you always have fond memories of him and have peace and comfort now that he is in a better place. Free from pain and suffering.

We have missed having Corky in our Millstream ward. We have such fond memories of his smile and kindness to us and to our 6 children. One of our sons, years ago, sent him a special invitation to come to his baptism. Corky was unable to attend so he took him out for ice cream at Baskin Robbins. He knew how to make a young boy happy! When he was in the bishopric he visited our home at Christmas time after the birth of a son and later commented on that perfect scene of our newborn laying in a cradle next to the Christmas tree. Our whole family has a soft spot in our heart for dear Corky. May his family be comforted.

MY CHILDREN AND I LIVED ACROSS THE STREET FROM CORKY AND EVA FOR 23 YEARS. HE TAUGHT ME MANY THINGS IN TAKING CARE OF MY YARD. HE SOLD ONE OF HIS CARS TO MY SON RALPH AND HELPED HIM TO LEARN HOW TO CARE FOR IT. HE WAS ALWAYS GIVING AND KIND AS WAS EVA. HE WAS AND IS A WONDERFUL MAN.

Uncle Corky was such a fun uncle. He always told such good stories and I thought that he was so handsome when I was a little girl. He was a good example of service. I bet he's having a good time with Aunt Eva and the rest of the aunts and uncles.
