Yvonne Marie Smith

"Eternal Companion and Mother"
Yvonne Marie Smith, age 61, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 26th, 2013 surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Yvonne was born to Darrell Junior Graham and Hortense Mae Thompson on December 12, 1951 in Murray, Utah, where she enjoyed the love and support of her extended family following the passing of her mother when she was just ten years old. Yvonne lived with her aunt and uncle, Nick and Beth Visher, while she attended Murray High School where she met, and later married, her high school sweetheart and eternal companion, Paul James Smith. Earlier this year they celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary. She and Dad were simply inseparable and loved spending time with each other (yep, they were sappy lovebirds!), and with their seven children and nineteen grandchildren.
Yvonne earned her nursing degree after attending the nursing programs at Westminster College and Salt Lake Community College.
Yvonne was a woman of great character and had a big, loving heart. She would regularly seek out and give generously to those in need. Forever an optimist, she never let the world get in the way of her plans and objectives. In addition to being an avid reader, she loved serving in her church callings and in the community. She was a charitable, gracious giver of her time and resources to support friends, family, and the causes she loved. She served in the Magna Community Council, the Boy Scouts of America (she was extremely proud of her Eagle Scouts), the LDS Special Needs Mutual (Mom loved those sweet spirits!), the American Red Cross, and the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
Survived by one sister, Shauna; two brothers, Grant and Will; her husband, Paul; seven children and their spouses, Jason (Jayde) Smith, Chad (Suzanne) Smith, Steve (Marcianne) Smith, Paula (Dustin) Ridley, Katy (Chris) Orn, Lori Zesiger (Micah Andreason), Debi (Nick) Stanley; and nineteen grandchildren.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her father, Darrell; mother, Hortense; and sister, Karen.
A viewing will be held on the evening of Sunday, June 30th from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary located at 4760 South State Street, Murray, Utah. An additional viewing will be from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the LDS chapel listed below.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 1st at 11:00 AM at the LDS chapel located at 3606 South Wingpointe Dr., Magna, Utah.
