Dustin Haws Obituary

Farmington, UT-Dustin Sean Haws - touched and helped make a difference in so many of our lives. On June 29th Dustin was unexpectedly called home. "The One who stands within" is an incredible young man. He was prayed into our family, arriving November 19, 1990, truly an answer to prayer. His contagious smile and clever sense of humor is a gift to all of us. Dustin loves life and his family. Whether knocking down a 3-pointer or putting the finishing touches to a short birdie putt, his enthusiasm was infectious. He was always the "Go-to-Guy" - a friend to everyone, most particularly to those who needed a friend. As the fifth child of a family with four other brothers and one sister, he has left his indelible mark on each of us and will continue to be an inspiration as we proceed on our journey. Dustin is an Eagle Scout; his life exemplified "do a good turn daily". His Eagle Project will be a constant reminder of service to the community as we drive up Grandview Drive to his home in Farmington. He was honored in Basketball and Golf as a member of the All-State Teams. While short in duration, Dustin took us along with him on his Journey to places and experiences that take most of us a life time. The memories are incredible; the mountains of Arizona with winding Anasazi Trails; the beaches of South Carolina with star fish and helmet crabs that only he could find; the love of southern hospitality while serving in Louisiana; then back to the mountains in Kamas where a whole community embraced Dustin and our family. Dustin's whole life has been a divine design of inter-twinings of relationships from a prior existence to now a resumption with those who have embraced Dustin and hold him in their arms now, as excited to have him back as we are sad to have him gone. Those still behind to cherish his memory are: his parents, Richard and Krista Haws; his siblings: David, Michael, Emily & Scott Harwood (Joshua, Spencer, Cooper); Christopher and Jenny Haws (Abigail); and Elder Taylor C. Haws - who is serving in the Budapest Hungary Mission for the L.D.S. Church; his Grandparents: Bruce and Dorothy Smart, Grandmother Lois Haws, Auntie Helen and many loving uncles, aunts, nephews and cousins. Family and friends may visit to honor Dustin on Thursday July 5th from 6 to 8 P.M. at the L.D.S. Farmington North Stake Center, 729 West Shepard Lane, Farmington. A celebration of Dustin's life will be held at Noon on Friday July 6th at the Farmington North Stake Center, with a viewing from 10:30 11:30 A.M. In lieu of flowers donations to the Anasazi Foundation would be appreciated at: 1424 South Stapley Drive, Mesa, AZ 85204. Our family invites you to share a favorite memory of Dustin at www.russonmortuary.com.

Dear Haws Family,

I was shocked when my mother told me of your loss. I have such fond memories growing up with Dustin. He was one of my best friends until we moved and I have always known him as a caring and love friend, brother and son. You and your family are in my prayers during this unique time of loss and reflection. It was during a similar time in my own life when we lost my brother Jaman that I drew closest to the Savior and was surrounded by the love that drives the Plan of Salvation. I pray that you feel the same arms of the same merciful Father as I did during that time in my life. Those arms are around Dustin now as they are ever around all God's children.

Wishing you the best and praying for your family,

Chris Jolley

Dear Haws Family,

Your family is in my thoughts a prayers at this difficult time.

Dustin lit up the room when he walked in. His 100 watt smile and upbeat personality made everyone around him happy. I enjoyed every second that I was near him. He was the most respectful, well mannered young man that I have ever met. I will cherrish the time that my family was able to spend with him in my home. What a blessing it was to have him breeze through our lives and touch us with his special spirit. He is missed.

What a blessed family to be able to have such a precious soul for even a short time.

With love and prayers,

Chris Jolley

Rich, Krista and Taylor,
So sorry to hear the news of Dustin. I have many fond memories of your son/ brother. That infectious smile of Dustin's would come out whenever he thought he might be in trouble making it very hard to stay upset with him. Yes, he was the go to guy in many ways on and off the court. He had a unique way of calming a tense situation (I got it Coach, it will be ok). I wish we could have had more time together on the hardwoods. The love and care that the family has for Dustin is remarkable. Taylor always supporting his older brother in the most positive light. And you Rich and Krista, doing everything possible for your family and Dustin. I wish your family the very best at this difficult time.

The obituary you wrote for Dustin reflected your deep love for him, and was a wonderful tribute to him. I continue to feel the depth of your sorrow and wish I could soften the sadness that has (and will) burrow in your hearts. My experience has taught me what "hell" truly is; it is being separated from those you love. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your lives. I love you and share the tenderness of this time with you.

The Eccles are so saddened to hear of Dustin's passing. We have such great memories of Dustin; Daytime Paintball in the woods and nighttime paintball behind his home among the skunks, 3v3 basketball tournaments and his huge 3 pointers to keep us in the game, his instant offence and tremendous leadership during comp basketball, ward basketball championships, beautiful ski days on Snow Basin's slopes, ATV rides through wooded hills with smitten girls on the back, and Dustin's laughing screams as he realized the zipper of his tent was locked with a twist-tie after Ben had just thrown up all over him in the middle of the night at scout camp. We pray the Lord comforts our dear friends, Rich and Krista, during this difficult time.

July 3, 2012

Rich and Krista, For a few months Dustin was our Hometeacher with his dad. He came with light and smiles each month. He was not a gloomy teenager! We love and admire your family and especially the two sons we were able to get to know, Dustin and Taylor. I know your faith in Heavenly Father and His mercies will be ever present in your hearts. We moved to Farmington when my son was just starting his Sophmore year at Davis. Anthony did not have any friends for almost that entire year....it was Dustin that reached out to him and became his first good friend. We will never forget.
