ARMANDO CHAVEZ Obituary

On Monday, February 8, 2021, Armando Chavez, a dedicated son, beloved brother and a caring uncle, passed away at the age of 76.

In 1968 Armando left Piedras Negras, Mexico to the United States in pursuit of the "American Dream". He started working for La Fonda Del Norte in San Antonio where he became the Master Chef. In 1976 Armando assisted in opening the first Tex-Mex restaurant, "Dos Hermanos", in Crested Butte, Colorado. Armando retired as Master Chef in 1999 from Maverick Café, formerly Casa Mauricio.

Armando enjoyed cooking mole, enchiladas, tamales, menudo and soups for family and friends. We will miss him very much.

Armando is survived by sisters, Armandina Chavez Hernandez and Francisca C. Hernandez and Lidia Moreno, brothers Benito Chavez and Rodolfo Chavez and Feliciano Chavez, nineteen nieces and nephews.
