Betty D. Smisek, nee Willoughby, died March 30, 2001 in San Antonio, TX at the age of 74. Born in Rogersville, MO, she had been married to Lt. Col. Raymond B. Smisek, USAF, who passed away in 1990. They had five children, Pamela Norwood, Moulton, AL, Christopher Smisek, San Antonio, TX, Jeffery Smisek, Houston, TX, Philip Smisek, San Antonio, TX and Stephen Smisek, New York, NY, all of whom survive her. She is also survived by one son-in-law, David; four daughters-in-law, Paula, Diana, Michelle and Brenna and seven grandchildren, Julian, Patrick, Alexander, William, Isabella, Heather and Edward. Betty was a talented singer, who performed with numerous big bands in the 1940s. She married Raymond, a WWII bomber pilot and decorated Army/Air Corps Officer, in 1947. After being stationed around the United States and Europe, they moved to San Antonio in 1963 and raised their family. Betty was a popular woman with a wide circle of friends. She enjoyed travelling, and spent much of her time seeing the world, and vacationing at both the Texas coast and in her beloved Hawaii. At a later date, her family will hold a Private Memorial Service, to which her friends will be invited. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her honor to the American Heart Association, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, your favorite charity, or that you take your mother to lunch. Our mother will be missed by all who knew her.
