MARCOS CORDOVA Jr.

April 23, 2013
Marcos Cordova passed away at his home in San Antonio on Tuesday. He is survived by his wife, Mary; one son, Robert Reyes; five daughters; Leonor Heyns and her husband Dr. William P. Heyns, Gina Amaro, Kathy Cordova and her husband John T., Michelle Withers and her husband Christian, and Donna Cadena and her husband Michael. His parents, Febronia and Marcos Cordova, Sr., three siblings and another daughter, Yvonne DeLeon, preceded him in death. He leaves behind seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Marcos was born in San Antonio on February 11, 1934. He graduated from Fox Technical High School and received an Associates Degree from San Antonio College. He was a Golden Gloves champion, fighting in the flyweight division. He joined the Marine Corp in the early 1950s and was stationed in San Diego, Palm Springs and Quantico. He married Mary Lou Garcia on June 5, 1962, and celebrated 50 years of marriage.
He began his 35 year career in the U.S. Postal Service in San Antonio, and rose through the ranks to become Supervisor of Mails and Delivery. He went on to supervise the mailroom at Harcourt for ten years. He was active in his local American Legion Post 579 and served as Judge Advocate.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Stephen's Catholic Church at 11am followed by an interment at Fort Sam Houston at 1:15pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Livestrong Foundation in memory of Marcos would be appreciated.

Mary, I don't know if you will remember us but we were your neighbors about 38 yrs. ago at 131 Fran Fran. My husband Pilo (Butter Krust Bakery), My daughter Mary Helen and son Joey. I just saw the obituary on Mr. Marcos' passing. Mr. Marcos was a very nice man, had a beautiful smile and always willing to lend a helpful hand. As soon as I saw his picture I knew it was Mr. Marcos. Mary, we will always remember your generosity and advice. May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Mary and Cordova Family,
