Jack Gruen Obituary

GRUEN
Jack Allen Gruen, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away on December 7, 2011 at the age of 91. Jack was born April 16, 1920 in San Antonio, Texas. He lived his entire life in Texas, other than his service in the United States Navy as a radio operator in the Navy Air Core. He is preceded in his passing by his childhood sweetheart and loving wife Norma Joy Gruen, to whom he was married for over 60 years. Jack worked for Shell Oil for 20 years and later became a teacher at Richard King High School, where he worked for 19 years. After retirement from teaching, Jack turned to one his many hobbies and true love as an accomplished artist and craftsman where he sold his artwork for many years. A piece of him will live on through fond memories of his miniature town models, his Christmas train circling the living room ceiling, and his amazing hand drawn illustrations. Jack is survived by his extended family of 5 children, Jack (Lynn) Gruen, Susan (Roger) Clark, Melissa (Tom) Notestine, Linda (Jeff) Grothues, and Larry Gruen; 9 grandchildren, Kurt, David, Kerry, Jay, Carly Joy, Ross, Chad, Coltin, Jamie; and 8 great-grandchildren, Ryan, Kaylee, Tyler, Brianna, Brynn, Seth, Hazelynn, and Ruckman. We are all saddened by the passing of this beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, but are comforted to know that he is finally reunited in Heaven with his love Norma Joy and his grandson Kevin.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Seaside Funeral Home.
