Richard Field Obituary
Col. Richard W. Field, US Army (Ret) passed away peacefully with his family by his side on July 26, 2016 at the age of 78. He was born October 18, 1937 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Donald W. and Alice M. Field, Col. Field served his Country Honorably and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He later became a Nuclear Medical Science Officer with the Army and retired after 29 years of service. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Betty L. Field; daughters: Kathleen M. Hinders and Patricia L. (Brandon M.) Trim; Sons: Michael W. (Christine M.) Field, and Dennis C. Field; sisters: Barbara L. (Paul) Welch and Alice P. Field; brother: Donald M. (Jacqueline) Field; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a man of great faith and devotion to his God and Family his entire life.
Services
Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. Funeral Mass will be offered at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, August 3 St. Matthew's Catholic Church with Interment to follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery with full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the Alzheimer's Foundation. Dear Betty and Family,
So sorry not to have attended at the funeral; Dick was a great mentor, friend, and peer. It was part of his greatness that as a very junior officer, he was able to make me feel I was important to him and we could maintain all these relationship simultaneously.
