Elroy Alan Friesenhahn, age 47, lost his battle to Pancreatic Cancer surrounded by family and friends on Wednesday, June 2, 2021.
Elroy is survived by his loving children Katie, Carson, and Ella; parents Elroy and Shirley Friesenhahn; brother and sister-in-law, Matthew and Laurie Friesenhahn; nephews, Bryson and Corbyn Friesenhahn; grandmother, Kathleen Hempel; aunts, Merlie Hempel, and Beverly Downs; soulmate Joanne Scheall and daughters Marion, Evelyn and Joslyn.
Elroy was a devoted, loving son, brother, and father to his three children. If asked, Elroy would say his greatest accomplishment was being a father. Family was of the utmost importance to him even in his final days. Elroy cherished family gatherings and holidays. He also enjoyed traveling and seeing the world. For 24 years, Elroy was a dedicated educator and coach committed to making the youth better versions of themselves. In his free time, Elroy enjoyed watching sporting events, especially Texas Longhorn football and baseball games. Elroy believed in living life to the fullest every day. Heaven has gained a special person who will continue to watch over family and friends for all eternity.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Porter Loring Mortuary North.

I lived across the street from Elroy on Irvin drive when we were kids. Elroy was younger than us but he played with my little brother once in awhile in Elroys fenced in yard. I never read the obituarys but today for some reason I just did. We are all connected. I am sorry that this has happened to Elroy and all of you that love him. You will all be in my prayers.

I remember the day you joined the Nimitz team with Chaney. I am so sorry about this sad news. I am all too familiar with this cancer and I pray for peace over you and your family. Gone too soon.

Thank you for taking a chance and hiring me 10 years ago as a first year teacher/coach at Nimitz MS. I will never forget the jokes, pranks and laughs we shared in the gym and hallways. You always had a smile that made my day. I will miss you Elroy, but I know God has given us a new Angel to watch over all of us at Nimitz.

I am so sad to hear of Elroy’s passing. He was a kind and caring father, friend and coach. He made a positive impact on the lives of his students every day at Nimitz. He will be missed by so many. I won’t be able to attend the services due to my husbands surgery but please know my heart and prayers will be with the entire family.
