EDWARD MORGAN Obituary

MORGAN, EDWARD PIERPONT JR. Ed Morgan was born October 13, 1954. On July 8, 2011, he died after a short battle with cancer. His early education was at St. Albans School in Washington DC. He loved animals, singing, working with his hands, sketching and comedy. After a troubled young adulthood, Ed turned back to his faith and desired to live a life helping people and making amends for his past mistakes. He worked construction in San Diego and for the California Department of Foresty as a firefighter. Ed graduated from the San Diego Rescue Mission with high honors on July 17, 2009 and worked in the SDRM warehouse. After being a faithful volunteer at Ladle Fellowship (a ministry to the homeless and poor in downtown San Diego) at First Presbyterian Church, he became a staff member as Food Distribution Coordinator. Working with the San Diego Food Bank and Feeding America, he organized bimonthly food distribution to the needy of San Diego. He received several commendations for his excellent work with both organizations. Ed is survived by his sister, Linda Morgan of Bethesda, Maryland, his First Presbyterian Church Care Team, countless friends and those he mentored in his last few years. The FPC Care Team thanks the Sharp Hospice team that assisted with Ed's care. Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, July 30th, at 11 a.m. At Ed's request, donations in his memory may be made to Ladle Fellowship, First Presbyterian Church, 320 Date St., San Diego, CA 92101.
