Harriette Treadwell Obituary

Harriette Taylor Treadwell, 82 OCEANSIDE -- Harriette Taylor Treadwell passed away peacefully on May 18, 2012. She was born on September 24, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois, to Mae Slobig Treadwell and Charles H. Treadwell, Sr. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Patricia Kennedy; and her Goddaughter, Karen Kennedy. Her memory will be cherished by her brother, Charles Treadwell of Half Moon Bay, Calif.; her sisters, Carolyn Geanoulis of Juneau, AK., Mary Jane Norder of Riverside, Calif., and Marguerite Suggs of Hollywood, Calif.; many nieces and nephews; and a multitude of loving friends. After serving her country during the Korean War in the United States Air Force, she obtained a degree from San Diego State, and taught school until her retirement. She was involved in many varied activities: Heritage Park Docent, Oceanside Historical Society Board of Directors, Life Writing Class, Wood Carving Class, and the California Blacksmith Assn. She was an avid reader and writer, and the author of two biographies. Earlier in her life, she showed champion Dalmatians. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 8, 2012, at 10 a.m., at St. Margaret's Catholic Church, 4300 Oceanside Blvd., Oceanside. She will be interred at Eternal Hills Memorial Park Cemetery, with her mother. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice. Sign the Guest Book online obits.nctimes.com

What a great friend to the woodcarvers at the Country Club Lane Senior Center. Always helpful and quick with the Band Aid when I cut myself. Enjoyed her stories about her life. God Bless Harriette.
