Larry Springer Obituary
Springer, Larry RANCHO SANTA FE - SANTALUZ -- Larry Springer of Los Angeles, Newport Beach and Rancho Santa Fe, California, passed away very peacefully in his home with his courageous wife, Devon by his side, on September 21, 2014. Larry was born in Los Angeles, California and attended Palos Verdes High School where he began his great passion for golf. As he graduated from high school, he won the CIF Southern California State Golf Championship, with the lowest score ever recorded. That record remained unblemished until Tiger Woods beat it by one stroke. Larry's golf propelled him into the University of Southern California with a full college scholarship. He graduated from USC with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and was ready for a long career in Real Estate. He was exceptionally passionate about his golf and always enjoyed the challenge and friendships that golf provided him throughout his life. As he did in all parts of his life, Larry was confident in how he would perform and always encouraged his golf partners and even his competitors to play their best. After graduating from USC, Larry worked for Ronson Real Estate Development in Anaheim, where he negotiated and arranged for acquisitions of large apartment complexes. During this period, he obtained a Degree as a Certified Financial Planner, and was associated with Perkins and Zures in Newport Beach. He enjoyed using his financial talents and provided unique and thoughtful advice in assisting all of his clients and friends. As a young business man, Larry met the love of his life, and on April 9, 1985, he married his best friend and most adoring wife, Devon. In 1988, Larry and Devon moved to Rancho Santa Fe and although he had already been a California licensed Real Estate Broker, he began a third career with Grubb & Ellis Real Estate, representing buyers and sellers in the Rancho Santa Fe area. Eventually, this company became Prudential California Realty, and Larry became one of the top real estate agents in the area. He received numerous awards and recognition, not only for his superior local achievements but also for his standing nationally as one of the top 1% of the agents in the entire United States. His clients, friends and other real estate agents recognized Larry as a very talented, sincere and compassionate person. Everyone who knew him felt his warmth and friendly personality that gave them a real sense of friendship and sincerity. He was admired by all that met him. Larry and Devon owned numerous homes in Rancho Santa Fe, Fairbanks Ranch and Santaluz in the last twenty-six years and they have been extremely active in the social and charitable community events. Larry always was energized in exploring other avenues of enjoyment and he and Devon spent many holidays and adventures in hiking, skiing and traveling the world. Larry would often comment, that as he matured he found a great interest and love for skiing, and he found the most difficult terrains to attack. The traveling was also a real passion and his preparation was remarkable, whether it was to the Desert, Sedona, Wine Country or faraway places the itinerary was totally encompassing. He enjoyed Costa Rica on several occasions, Peru, Chili, Argentina, Panama, South Africa, Vietnam, many European countries, Cambodia, Thailand, Columbia, all of the Caribbean and very special places in Mexico. Larry was extremely proud of these travels and had taken expert photographs to include in slide shows and albums for all of his family and friends to enjoy.
