Jean Neas Obituary

Jean Neas, a truly fun-loving, vivacious woman, the wife of Al Neas, formerly of Billings, Mont., and, since 2006, a resident of Paso Robles, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, after a short illness.  Jean was a successful and accomplished artist and an active member and a director of the Central Coast Water Color Society.  She was an active member of the Paso Robles Art Association and participated in Open Studios for over 10 years.  Her art is enjoyed in the homes of many buyers throughout San Luis Obispo County as well as in the homes of her many friends and admirers. Jean is survived by her husband, Al Neas; son, Christopher Hull (Erin) and their children Lucas and Madelyn of Salt Lake, Utah; daughter, Andrea and her daughter, Soleil Bruner Hull of San Diego; twin brother, John Weaver (Donna) and their sons Matt (Courtney) and Tim (Natalie).  Jean's celebration of life will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, at Castoro Cellars, 1315 N. Bethel Road in Templeton.  Cremation has taken place and a private family interment of the ashes will take place prior to the celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Art Smart Program, which supports art education in the Paso Robles schools for kindergarten through grade five. Donations can be made to Studios on the Park, P.O. Box 3000, Paso Robles, CA 93447, www.studiosonthepark.org/education/kids-art-smart.php.

I knew Jean in high school and was a grade ahead of her. We went together for awhile and she was a very sweet beautiful young lady. May she have eternal happiness as she is showing the Almighty her art work

Al, Chris, Andrea and families, I was a friend of Jean from Iowa and send my thoughts and prayers for your family. Jean's mother Mary and my mother, Dorothy Alt Parker were roommates at Grinnell College. The last time they went to their college 70th year reunion, both Jean and I accompanied them to help make it possible. We formed a simple bond, knowing our mothers meant so much to each other over that many years. I also have an art minor, so could connect to her artistic side as well, even though I never had much chance to view her work. If you have more information about her art work and any small pieces that would be for purchase, I would like to know. Carolyn Moe, [email protected]

As a younger second cousin, I didn't know Jean well until she and Al hosted me in Billings. But what fun we had once we got together! I know she will be greatly missed by all who know and love her.

Jean was one of my favorite cousins. I loved from the time she was learning to walk, went to school, got married and moved to CA.
