Rodney P. Hardee

1938 - 2015

HARDEE, RODNEY P. Rodney P. Hardee, born March 12, 1938, passed away peacefully in Albuquerque, NM on Thursday, December 17, 2015. He is survived by his wife, Shiva D. Hardee, son Phillip R. Hardee and daughter Crystal A. Hardee of Albuquerque, and by one brother, two sisters, three nieces and two nephews. Born in Houston, TX, Rodney entered the Army at age 17. While stationed in Germany, he worked in Intelligence. After his time serving the Country, Rodney pursued art and attended art schools in both New York, NY and San Francisco, CA, developing his own style of painting. He eventually moved to New Mexico and lived in the New Buffalo Hippie Commune, just north of Taos. Deciding that he wanted to study physics, he moved to Albuquerque to attend the University of New Mexico. He subsequently worked at Sandia National Laboratory in Albuquerque. He was also an employee for more than 11 years at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM. Rodney built his own A-frame house in La Mesilla, on the outskirts of Espa¤ola, NM, and regularly shopped at the Whole Foods Market in Santa Fe, NM. Later in life, he attended a weekly yoga class at the Los Alamos Senior Center. An avid gardener, Rodney also enjoyed hiking the ancient trails of New Mexico. He traveled widely, to destinations in England, Scotland, Spain, Equador and Per£. Throughout his life, Rodney followed his own unique spiritual path, sharing his knowledge with others. All who knew Rodney felt his love like a warm beam of sunshine. He will be sorely missed. A memorial service will be held at the Daniels Family Carlisle Chapel, 3113 Carlisle Boulevard NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110 on Saturday, January 23, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. The service will be followed by a reception at the same location.
