GLEN STROCK Obituary

GLEN T. STROCK JUNE 15, 1947 - APRIL 25, 2020 One has only to look at a Glen Strock painting to capture the thought, the depth and the whimsicality of the man. Glen, a very special man of God, was our pastor, friend, husband, and father. Surrounded by his family, he was called to the Lord April 25, 2020. Glen was 72. Born in Fort Benning, GA, Glen grew up in Hampton, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Colonel Alan Martin Strock and Gene Peterson Ames, his brother, David and his daughter, Cora Caldwell. Glen is survived by his loving wife, Alida and their children; Joshua, Selma, Christy, Abel, and Isaac, as well as daughters, Mary (Curtis), Tessa Gantt (Jeremy) and brothers, John and Carl (Julie), and six grandchildren; McKellan, Sylas, Opal, and Kingston Malbeck; Reef and Pablo Gantt. Glen was an especially gifted artist, muralist, and illustrator. He attended Virginia Commonwealth University and studied art at the Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Under an associate of famed muralist Diego Rivera, Glen developed a unique style of illuminating biblical themes and the scenes of the Southwest. His Santa Fe murals are displayed at La Familia Medical Center, Solano Court, and St. Michael's High School in Santa Fe. His book illustrations include People's Guide to Mexico; Four Square League: Pueblo Indian Land in New Mexico; The Witches of Abiquiu; and Land Grants and Lawsuits in Northern New Mexico, to name a few. Glen was generous with his time and his talent. He was instrumental in launching Care Net Santa Fe, a pro-life pregnancy center in Santa Fe. He was known for quoting scripture in legislative committee hearings at the New Mexico State Capitol, where he promoted pro-life legislation. Glen attended, volunteered, and helped administer a number of Santa Fe churches. He pastored out of his home, knowing that bringing the Word of God did not require a church building. At the time of his passing, Glen was the beloved pastor of the Pecos Valley Cowboy Church, where he'd preached with clarity and passion for the last 8 years. Besides his warmth and engaging friendship, Glen will always be remembered for inviting us to pray. "Let's pray," was Glen's consistent invitation to anyone and everyone close to him. He will be missed.

A magical being and transcendent artist... A treasured friend since 1967, Glen lived a life grounded in spirit and love. He was a special one in my life and in the lives of all he touched.

I was just so sad to hear that Pastor Glen has left Earth, but glad he's with His Jesus now. He so beautifully showed the love of Christ to everyone. And he had so much joy! He helped teach the Bible Club at Pecos Elementary and when he taught Elisha, he dressed up as the prophet, even shaving his head! The kids got quite a shock, but Glen, brought God's Word to life always! He will be so missed. Praying for his family.

My condolences to your family. I never had the opportunity to meet Glen, however, I lost my husband in 2008 and Glen heard my story and mailed me a beautiful painting he created that depicted God in the heavens. I knew the artist had a gift only given by God. I pray your that God gives your family the peace and comfort that can only come from him. May God Bless your family!

I worked with Glen at Museum of New Mexico Press many years ago. He always had a distinct spiritual quality and was such a gifted and magnificent folk artist. We all felt he had special qualities. Very loved, very special man.

Dear Strock family,

My deepest sympathy and sincere condolences on Glen's passing. He was a very close friend and one on whom I could depend. He helped me when I was in need and he guided and discipled me in the Word of God. I was privileged to listen to his teaching and share in ministering with him at Care Net. I enjoyed his company and the many stories he shared with me and my son. I will miss him. May God receive his soul into heavens glorious realm.

Sincerely,
David Duran and family

I will fondly remember our conversations and the countless hours I spent discovering new details in your winter painting hanging on the wall at PVMC. Rest in heavenly peace.

Glen was a classmate of mine at Kecoughtan HS in Hampton, Va. We were Army Brats! Memories of him bring a smile to me as he was always a kind, caring, talented, friendly person. Im sad to hear of his passing however he led a life well lived and is home now with Christ. My prayers and love to his wife, children, and family, as well as his congregation. Tere Loftin

Glen was such an incredible brother in Christ. He left his mark on your life if you spent any time with him. He was caring, funny and always had time to pray for a friend or neighbor.

Glenn worked and inspired many children through his art. He along with several youth created a masterful mural at the old Boys & Girls Club on Alto St. A true man of GOD. Blessed to have known him.
