Marjorie Gurican Obituary

Marjorie Florence Sheldon Gurican (Marge), age 85, passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2021, in Santa Maria, California. Marge was born on Monday, March 2, 1936, in Los Angeles County, California to father Louis Loren Sheldon and mother Dorothy Louise Morgan. She grew up in Long Beach, California with three of four siblings.
Marge met Stephen Lowell Gurican (Steve) and married on Saturday, December 12, 1953, Los Angeles County, California and to this union five children were born Andrea (Andi), David, Jeni, Jeffrey (Jeff) and Kasandra (Kasi).
Marge and Steve lived in various places with Steve's occupation. Starting in California, Waianae, Hawaii, Eagle River, Alaska, England, and Colorado Springs, Colorado, and retiring Santa Maria, CA. Marge and Steve enjoyed a vacation home at Lake Nacimiento in San Luis Obispo County.
Marge loved to be with her grandchildren, read medical and gardening magazines, cooking, sewing, crocheting, tending her hydrangea and rose garden, and she loved succulents. Occasionally she grew tomato plants taller than her! She enjoyed traveling in their RV across the United States. Marge worked for many years as a secretary for a State Farm agent in Santa Maria.
Marge was preceded in death by her husband Steve, who died on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the age of 82 in Santa Maria, CA and her daughter, Kasi, died on May 3, 2018 in Bakersfield, CA; her parents, Louis Loren Sheldon and Dorothy (Lloyd) Van Laningham and siblings, Bill Morgan, Santa Maria, CA; Marie Knutzen, Santa Maria, CA; David Sheldon, L.A., CA; Dorothy McCollum, Long Beach, CA.
At the time of her death, Marge is survived by daughters Andi (David) Heither, Puyallup, WA and Jeni Mari Gurican, Santa Maria, CA; sons, David Lowell Gurican, Anchorage, AK and Jeff (Julie) Gurican; granddaughters Lauren Gurican and Kayla Rose Aldridge, Santa Maria, CA, Morgan Gurican, Federal Way, WA; grandsons Stephan Bosch, Wasilia, AK; Sheldon Aldridge, Santa Maria, CA; and great-granddaughters Sage Elizabeth Aldridge and Opal Michele Aldridge of Santa Maria, CA and Lydia Lowell Bosch Wright and Lillian Rosealina Wright of Wasilia, AK; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Dementia/Alzheimer's Foundation of your choice.
