Orcutt - Steve Wells, 71, of Santa Maria, California, passed away on November 17, 2025.

Born at Fort Lewis, Washington, Steve grew up in the Santa Maria Valley and graduated from Righetti High School in 1972. He went on to play football for Allan Hancock College before beginning a lifelong career in auto parts sales, a field in which he worked faithfully for more than 50 years.

Steve was a devoted husband and father, known for his quiet strength and comforting presence. He was the kind of person who was always there when needed, steady, patient, and wholeheartedly committed to those he loved. Among his greatest joys was spending time with his wife of 34 years, Monica. Together they treasured walks on the beach, visits to local wineries, and countless simple moments that became cherished memories.

Steve's love for his son, Kyle, was steadfast and profound. He supported him through school and sports, always a reassuring presence on the sidelines and a source of constant encouragement. Whether working on projects, sharing meals, or simply enjoying time together, Steve deeply valued every moment with his son.

Steve also treasured the time he spent with his many nieces and nephews. He took great pride in watching them grow, celebrating their milestones, and seeing them become parents themselves. Their achievements and the families they built brought him tremendous joy.

Throughout his life, Steve embraced a wide range of passions. He enjoyed photography and collected antique cameras, finding joy in capturing moments and preserving memories. He spent years coaching, first in football for his younger brothers and later in baseball for Kyle. Steve also loved staying active and played for many seasons in local recreation leagues, including softball and flag football.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Neil and Carrie Wells, and his brother Michael Wells. He is survived by his wife, Monica Gilliland Wells, and his son, Kyle Wells; brothers Scott (Cathy) Wells and Gary (Shannon) Wells; sisters Terri (Dan) Givens and Diane (Larry) McDuff; brother-in-law Mitch Gilliland; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

Steve will be remembered for his kindness, loyalty, and unwavering love for his family. His presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
