Beki Petras

Beki (Basiliki) Petras - SAVANNAH - Beki (Basiliki) Petras, a Savannah native who returned home after many years, passed away on August 10, 2016 at the age of 88. She was an amazing artist, a punster extraordinaire, a sun worshiper who get couldn't get enough of Tybee, an ice cream lover whose father founded Leopold's Ice Cream, a word-game fiend (many rounds of Boggle were played at our kitchen table), and she had a great sense of humor and a dazzling smile. She received her degree in Fine Arts at the University of Georgia, Athens, and exhibited in Savannah, Washington, D.C., New York and New Jersey. Beki was the daughter of Peter and Marika Leopold of Savannah. She is survived by her two children, Ross (Toronto) and Kathy (Seattle), grandson Alex (Toronto), brother Stratton (Savannah), and many relatives including nieces LaDonna Wright, Keli Chiotellis, Melanie Carter, Michele Leopold and nephews Peter Leopold and Damon Leopold. She was predeceased by her husband George and her brother, Dr. Louis Leopold of Savannah. Donations in memory of Beki can be made to The Michael J.
