Frederick Bazemore Obituary

Mr. Frederick Douglas Bazemore, Sr. - SAVANNAH - Mr. Frederick Douglas Bazemore, Sr., 95, of 545 East Park Avenue, had his home going at Tara Nursing Home on Tuesday, February 19, 2008. A long time resident of Savannah, Mr. Bazemore was born in Sylvania, GA, the son of the late Thomas Bazemore and Jessie Zeigler Bazemore Roberts. He attended the public schools Screven County. He worked in Baltimore and New York before moving to Savannah where he was employed by Morrison Cafeteria for over 40 years. After retirement he worked briefly at the old Savannah Visitors Center as a host. At an early age he joined St. Andrews Methodist Church in Sylvania. After moving to Savannah he affiliated with Asbury United Methodist Church where he remained a devoted member. He leaves to mourn, a loving wife of sixty-nine years, Mrs. Frances Campbell Bazemore; two daughters and sons-in-law, Zeline Bazemore Foster (Fred D. Foster) of Savannah and Frances Bazemore Calvert (Kenneth Calvert) of St. Louis, MO; one son, Frederick Douglas Bazemore, Jr., of Dallas, TX; two sisters, Mrs. Millie Bazemore Wright and Mrs. Alice Mae Clarke of Savannah; one sister-in law, Martha Bazemore of NY; two grandchildren, Mrs. Felicia Foster Barnett (Kris Barnett) of Hampton, VA and Andrea Bazemore of Plano, TX, three great grandchildren, Miles, Malcolm and Morgan Barnett of Hampton, VA, several nieces, cousins and other relatives. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 25, 2008 at Asbury United Methodist Church with Reverend Beverly Flowers, Pastor presiding. Interment: Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Asbury Methodist Church Building Fund, 1201 Abercorn Street, Savannah, GA 31401.
