Mari Burns Obituary

October 23, 1959 - December 14, 2020 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving wife, mother of five and grandmother of four, Maria "Mari" Burns, on December 14th, of pancreatic cancer at the age of 61. Mari was born on October 23, 1959 in Cuba to the late Grecia Perez and Armando Prado. She was a long time resident of Southern California. Not only was she a devoted wife and beloved mother, Mari also taught at local elementary schools for twenty three years, providing hundreds of kids with a welcoming atmosphere and well-rounded education. She retired just last spring to spend more time with her grandchildren. Mari enjoyed the ocean, animals and spending time with her family. She was known for her hospitality, caring nature, and lipstick kisses. Mari is survived by her husband of forty years, Timothy Burns; daughters, Jennifer, Patricia (Joseph) Bell, Kathleen (Christopher) Tiesiera and Michelle (Jeffrey) Vickerman; son, Timothy Jr.; Grandchildren, Grace, Christopher, Eleanor and Penelope; sisters, Grecia (Scott) Lowe and Rosa Maria (Edward) Gutierrez; uncle, Gil (Esther) Perez; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Mari will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her loving spirit. Interment at Oak Park Cemetery in Claremont, California.

Tim, Kathleen, and family, it was with shock and such sadness to hear of Mari’s passing. I have loved Mari and your family since we first met in soccer. Even though our family time drifted apart I would always happy memories of our times spent together. Thinking now of when Randy and I, Dan and Carol, and you and Mari all went out dancing at Misty’s! Mari was just the sweetest, kind, calm, and fun person with the best smile that let you know she possessed all those qualities! I would run into her occasionally at Rosa Maria’s or Grazianno’s when we’d both be on our lunch hours and loved seeing her and catching up! Having lost Randy, I know to well the grief and emotions all of you are going through. He has been gone 9 years now and not a day goes by that we wish he was here in our lives. Tim I am so grateful to God that he blessed Randy and I with our children as they, and our grandchildren are the reason I have been able to go on. I’m thankful God gave you the love of Mari and the blessings of your family. Faith and family will get you through. Sending my love to all of you, Patty

Dear Tim, I’m so sorry to hear of Mari passing. I know how tight knit your family is and I am certain that the love of family and friends will help carry you through your grief.
