Robert Schultz Obituary

Robert Allen "Bob" Schultz Sr., 68, of Upper Providence, passed away Monday after a courageous battle with various illnesses.

Born in Ashland, he was a son of Charles and Orpha Schultz, Pitman.

A graduate of Bloomsburg, Villanova and Widener universities, Bob retired after 36 and a half dedicated years in the Rose Tree Media School District as an elementary and middle school teacher.

Bob served as the vice president of the Rose Tree Media Education Association, was a member of the Media Optimist Club, and an Elder at Media Presbyterian Church. Bob was an avid golfer and local sports fan.

Bob was an inspiration to his family and friends. Even on the darkest days, he was able to persevere and find levity. He was dearly loved by his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Irene; three children, Rob Schultz Jr., Bill Hirt (Rebecca) and Kimberly Riviere (Serge); four grandchildren, Julien (11), Tyler (10), Nathan (9) and Ashley (8); sister, Diane Fedako (Phil); nieces and nephews; and two (poorly) behaved dogs, all whom he loved immensely. He will be sadly missed by all.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Media Presbyterian Church, 30 E. Baltimore Ave, Media. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. at the church. Interment will be Media Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Bob to: NORD ( National Organization for Rare Disorders), http://rarediseases.org. Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home Ltd., Media, has charge of arrangements. Condolences can be made at www.msbfh.com.

He was my 5th grade teacher at Media ES. I have many fond memories of him reading us the Soup and Me book series...I still love those books! Now, I am a 5th grade teacher at Media ES... I'm sure he is part of the reason I wanted to be a teacher. My condolences, and I pray the memories of him will one day soon bring you more laughter than tears.

My heart aches for Irene and family. He was a true gentleman, a devoted husband and father, and the ultimate teacher of life to all who knew him.
