13 years. Still mill you, Barry, and think about you. I still laugh out loud when I think of some of the clever, funny things you said. Hope you're enjoying where you are.

I can't believe it's been eight years. I sure miss those simpler days, walking with Barry and the rest of the guys, just feeling carefree and enjoying each other's company. Barry, I think about you often, and am grateful I got to know you and your family. You all are special people.

Barry was a very talented and intelligent person, which made his genuine and down-to-earth nature even more special. I think it says a lot when people who were very close to him as well as those who maybe only knew him by playing basketball with him had this same impression of him. I miss his sincere nature, and think about him all the time.

Barry, he was not only a awesome brother, but he was my best friend in the world.I do not think you will find two brothers who were closer to each other than Barry and I. We were practically inseparable. He may be gone now, but I have so many great memories of us together to keep him alive in my heart forever. He will truly be missed, but I know one day we will be reunited again and our brotherhood and friendship will continue like it has before, except only this time eternally. Rest in peace Barry and know you will always be in my heart and soul. See you soon, love your brother Greg.

I'm truly sorry for your loss. I spent more minutes waiting for the "A" court at North Junior High on Saturday and Sunday mornings to open up then I care to remember. My friends and I (class of 93) would still talk about Barry and his brothers from time to time about their dominance at North on those cold weekend mornings. I didn't know Barry outside of that gym, but what I do remember is this...Barry played, didn't talk trash....just played. Hitting jumper after jumper after jumper winning most of the time. If you wanted your 75 cents worth you somehow figured away to get on his team, because you would play all day long. RIP Barry.

I knew Barry for 30 years and im going to find it hard to ever get over this. He was my friend another brother as well as the best basketball player i ever played with. I met Barry in 1981 thru his brother Greg, who i met in school. Over the last 30 years Barry, Greg, Tim Simon, my brother Craig, and myself formed a bond of brotherhood that was rarely seen....i spent most of my teenage years at the Ligeros house...as we played sports, watched sports, played pingpong, and watched movies. When you are friends for 30 years, somewhere along the line it turns into family. Not a day will go by the rest of my life that Barry isnt in my thoughts.....see you someday again my brother. Love Dale.

My heart goes out to his family and those that knew him more recently than me. Like many have expressed on this site, he was a kind and gentle spirit and I really enjoyed his company. I am truly sorry for your loss.
Kindest regards,
Justin

Losing one of your best friends, it just doesn't seem real to me. I've known Barry for almost 30 years. He was a talent like none other. The core group of us five (Barry, his brother Greg, our friend Tim Simon, my brother Dale and I), were iseparable. You never picture telling your friend to let go so we don't see him suffer. The word "Brave" was an understatement the way he handled, fought this disease. I told Jim and Elaine that I can't thank them enough for giving me, all of us in fact, one of the best gifts we've ever received in our entire lives....Barry. It will take an enormous amount of time to cope with this. Right now, his family just needs support and love to help them through this. Barry, I will ALWAYS love you and never forget the impact you had on my life. Whatever "team" ends up getting Barry in the next life, just got a HELL of a lot better!

One of the most talented people I have ever met. Makes me realize that I need to not take for granted every opportunity to enjoy things we do take for granted. Wish I would have played more Saturday ball last year. I will not make that mistake again. Special thoughts to his brother Greg. He will be missed. Keep up the good work.

I feel priviledged to have gotten to know Barry while working together, and was glad to have stayed in touch with you once both our times were finished at FSI. Talking to him through the job searches, and just keeping in touch to chat about our sports hobbies. Barry was such a sweet guy, so nice to talk to and he will be missed very much! My heart and prayers go out to your family at this very difficult time. He is being taken very good care of, and is comfortable now, I hope that knowing this at least provides some comfort to your family, as well as remembering all the great memories of such a great person! Hugs!

Greg, Tony and the Ligeros family.
Will always remember trying to beat Barry and his brothers at basketball, on Saturday and Sunday games at North. Although I don't remember winning very often.
I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Ken

I have fond memories of Barry as a young child. My mom grew up with his mom and we lived one block from eachother as children. He is in Gods hands with no more pain. My deepest sympathies to Jim, Elaine and their other children.
