Joanne Antigone Ligeros

Age 80, of Monroeville, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 19, 2023. Joanne was preceded in death by her beloved parents, John G. and Irene Ligeros; loving friend of Rose Mary, Steve, John, and Sarah DeFrancesco; dear niece of Mary Rose Stanley; she is also survived by several cousins. Joanne received her Bachelors Degree in education from Penn State University and her Masters Degree in Library Science from Duquesne. As a teacher at Plum Senior High School, Joanne had the ability to reach even the unreachable students, and she made Shakespeare come alive for her classes. As the Librarian at PHS, she was always willing to work with the teachers, developing creative library projects and working with the students to complete those projects. As a friend, Joanne was witty, generous, and fiercely loyal. Joanne enjoyed reading, gardening, and going out to dinner with friends. Family and friends would like to thank the nursing staff at William Penn Care Center Senior Suites and Personal Care. Friends will be received on Thursday, February 23, from 3 p.m. - 7 p.m. at the JOBE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC. (MONROEVILLE/PLUM CHAPEL) 445 Beatty Road, Monroeville (412-856-4747). A Trisagion service will take place at the funeral home Thursday, at 3 p.m. A Funeral Service will take place at Presentation of Christ Greek Orthodox Church on Friday, February 24 at 11 a.m. A visitation will take place at the Orthodox Church an hour before the services at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Jefferson Memorial Park.
