Jane Elizabeth Zeman, 85

Mrs. Howard Zeman (Jane Elizabeth Heinen), 85, died Friday, 20 April, 2012 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana after a brief stay in the hospital.

A memorial mass will be held on Sunday, 27 May 2012 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in St. Cloud, MN at 2:30 and will be officiated by Father John Sauer. A memorial mass will also be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lawrenceburg, IN, where Jane was a parish member.

Jane Zeman was born 9 September 1926 in Clear Lake, MN to Henry and Emma (Imholte) Heinen. After graduating from high school, she attended Franciscan Sisters School of Nursing graduating as a R.N. in 1948. Jane then joined the US Air Force in San Diego as a Psychiatric Nurse. While in the Air Force, Jane met her husband, Howard J. Zeman and they were married 21 November 1952. They traveled extensively and finally settled in Loomis, CA to raise two sons. She then worked for Folsom State Prison, as its first female RN, retiring in 1984. After retiring, she volunteered at charities and enjoyed couples bowling league with her husband, Howard.

Survivors include son Howard, daughter-in-law Susan, 2 grandchildren, six great-grandsons, a great-granddaughter and a great-great granddaughter, sisters Bernadine Barke, Teresa Barrett and Delores Orcutt and one brother Vernon Heinen. She is also survived by dear cousin Mary Ann and Donald Sauer and a special friend Jean Kane of St. Benedict Village.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son James Henry (1988), husband (2001), brothers Godfrey, Paul, Celestine, John and Reinhardt.

Jane enjoyed reading and was a devout Catholic. She loved traveling to Minnesota to spend time with her family and friends, which include many, many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. She cherished the time spent with family and her surprise 70th birthday party.

She requested memorials be sent to Holy Spirit Church or the St. Benedict's Center.
