Coach Rob and Adele were a big influence on my life. I remember hanging out in front of his home room before school started. Also all the things he and all my coaches taught me. I would see him often at High St grocery and he always gave me a boost. I will miss him and will cherish every memory. My condolences to Adele and the rest of the family.

I will always cherish my memories of our time at Higgins Beach with Carl next door to us. Our conversations and laughter at his many wonderful stories. We loved sharing our birthday parties and our lobster dinners together. It has never been quite the same without Carl and Adele beside us for our week in July. We will never forget him such a sweet, kind, generous man. My prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

To the Robertson and Robertson extended family: my deepest condolences for the loss of a great man, coach, teacher, mentor and person. I'm a better person for having had Coach Rob in my life, even if it was only for four years in high school - I'll never forget him. I'm one of thousands of former students and players who Coach Rob knew by name. He knew every kid on the roster - from the starting QB to the smallest and meekest players on the team, it didn't matter to Coach Rob. Thank you Coach and thank you to the family for sharing Coach Rob with so many people - I'm sure at times it wasn't easy. Rest easy Coach, we'll all miss you but we'll never forget you.

What a guy. It's special for students to feel and become friends with one of their high school teachers. I always enjoyed his perspectives on society, politics, and sports. He had a special gift of teaching you by helping you find the answers yourself. He was a gentleman who was both smart and funny. This is a loss for our entire community, but Exeter and those of us he mentored are better off because of him.

Many years ago, I worked as a secretary for Exeter High School. I had the privilege to get to know Carl at that time. I remember him well as one of the nicest and most genuine teachers there and of the many lively discussions I had with him whenever we bumped into each other in the mail room and also when I was a worked at the SAT's where Carl frequently proctored a test to a room full of nervous students. Carl's large friendly smile and kind demeanor immediately put the kids at ease during a stressful event. My heart goes out to his long time love Adele who I also got to know while she was employed by the Exeter School District as well as her sons, Ryan and Brett whom I have known as well. I am sure that I am joined by many who will remember Carl for his positive attitude, great sense of humor and his outstanding mentorship to the many students he taught and coached over the years.

Coach Carl was one of my favorites. He, Jocko, Coach Coon, and Head Coach Eustis, were instrumental in my future paths in life. My football years set the stage for discipline, needed for entering the Army, and eventually, Law Enforcement. Coach Carl once said to me: Maddog, High School wont last forever; make a decision. So Coach, thank you for your guidance, tough attitude, and love of your students. Sleep well my friend.. you will always be with us in our hearts.
